Jordan Hospital sets up its HIFU Center after importing Chongqing Haifu's Model JC 200D Focused Ultrasound Tumor Therapeutic System and sending its Dr. Faysal Al-Maayah to Suining Central Hospital, the International Training Base of Minimally-invasive and Noninvasive Medicine, for HIFU/FUS technology learning and clinical training. Dr. Faysal Al-Maayah performed the first HIFU treatment for a patient with multiple uterine fibroids in Jordan under the guidance of Prof. ZHANG Lian and Dr. ZHANG Cai on December 13, 2017, marking the opening of the HIFU Center in Jordan Hospital, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Muna Al-Hussein, the mother of King Abdullah II of Jordan, and in collaboration with Jordanian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RCOG, UK), the First International Congress of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology was held in Fairmont Amman, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on December 14, 2017. Prof. ZHANG Lian was invited to the conference and delivered a keynote speech titled “HIFU: A Novel Tool for Gynaecologists”, briefing the attendees about the application of HIFU technology in the treatment of benign gynecological myomas and the first HIFU treatment for multiple uterine fibroids in Jordan Hospital. The entire audience was amazed, asking questions one after another, and Prof. ZHANG Lian answered them all with patience.

Princess Muna Al-Hussein, the mother of King Abdullah II of Jordan, visited the stand of Chongqing Haifu during the conference. She had a lovely chat with Prof. ZHANG Lian and Dr. Jamil Shaban, the famous OBGYN in Jordan; moreover, speaking highly of the features of HIFU treatment for gynecological diseases and having high hopes for HIFU technology benefitting Jordanian women.

The HIFU Center in Jordan Hospital had close support from Chongqing Haifu throughout its whole process from conception and establishment. It is firmly believed that as an emerging therapeutic modality originated in China, HIFU technology will greatly benefit the patients in Jordan and its neighboring Middle-east countries and regions!
